Forms in Google Docs Spreadsheets

I'm a big fan of the forms feature that is integrated within Google Docs Spreadsheets. If you're a regular reader of my blog, you've seen me use this feature a few times.

Here is a tutorial on creating forms as well as a brief illustration of how I have used forms to collect survey data and registration information.

How have you used forms? I'd love to view your application. Please leave a link as a comment!

  1. Hi John,

I like the way you have been able to use forms in google docs. It has given me some great ideas. We use forms in google docs as a way for students and teachers to share educational content for their ipods and cellphones. In particular, we have created gFlash and MLA at www.gWhizMobile.com. Gflash is a bit like flashcards on steroids, incorporating sound, tactile, image, and other types of media to enhance retention of material. MLA stands for Mobile Learning Assessment, and is a tool for teachers to send assessments out to students and gather performance data/scores back from them digitally. Regards,

    Ralph

  2. Hi,
The form is great for a skill builder or quiz.

    They can be self graded.

Go to Google Docs>Create New>From Template

In Public Templates search for Self Graded

Instructions are included on the template.

Have fun!! It is a great tool and teacher time saver!

  3. I am collaborating with teachers to create a walkthrough form that collects instructional strategies data. Students have also used Google Docs Forms for surveying their peers on many topics. A teacher utilized it with students to gather feedback on the course she taught.

  4. I used a Google form embedded on my library website this fall during open house to collect parent and student email addresses. I then shared the form with all teachers in our school.

  5. I am a 9th and 10th grade language arts teacher, and I use Google Forms for short quizzes for my students. Here is an example of a recent quiz I have given to my 9th graders:
