10 Interactive Whiteboard Tools

Over the last two years I have been using and perfecting the Wii Interactive Whiteboard in my classroom. I am preparing for a presentation on the setup and use of the WIWB at the 2010 MACUL conference on March 13 and put together a list of my top 10 favorite uses for aninteractive whiteboard. All ten of these products are free and easy to use.

Fellow Wii IWB user Dave Tarwater has also compiled a list of interactive activities for IWB.

  7. Maybe you can help me. I am looking for a way to, for example, give my students a set of words that correspond with a topic, lets say parts of 4 body systems. The words would be scrambled and the students would have to drag and group the words together.
Also, I would like to be able to put up a diagram and have the students drag words froma word bank and label the parts. Does this make sense? Ther is so much stuff out there for every subject BUT health. Thanks!

  8. Hi, Is it possible to make any IWB work with a Wii? Or do you have to have a Whiteboard that is specially deseigned for Wii. I would love to know

  9. Hi Anonymous,

You can use a Wiimote to build your own IWB. The only thing you need is a computer with a bluetooth connection, a wiimote, an infrared pen, and a digital projector.

It is NOT necessary to have any of the commercial IWB (Smart, Promethian, etc) in order for the system to work. The Wiiboard is designed to be a replacement for them.

Check out all of my posts on the topic: http://electriceducator.blogspot.com/search/label/wiiboard

  10. I think it’s great that this platform can be used in the classroom as a tool for education as well. Most people know this Console to be just for video games, but turning it into an interactive tool for learning is definitely going to keep students more interested in their lessons. It’s also awesome that it can be used even for office presentations. Isn’t it great how many possibilities an interactive whiteboard could open up?
